I think i'll be going Redguard again,

http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/titles/title_codex_redguard.gif

The most naturally talented warriors in Tamriel, the dark-skinned, wiry-haired Redguards of Hammerfell seem born to battle, though their pride and fierce independence of spirit makes them more suitable as scouts or skirmishers, or as free-ranging heroes and adventurers, than as rank-and-file soldiers. In addition to their cultural affinities for many weapon and armor styles, Redguards are also physically blessed with hardy constitutions and quickness of foot.

Thanks to Baphomet from TXB. for the world maps!

Let's take a look at the lands of the Imperial Province of Cyrodiil.

http://til.gamingsource.net/maps/EmpireOfTamriel.gif

These are the expanse of lands covered by the Tamrielic Empire by end of the Third Era. The Divine Emperor Septim VII holds sway over all of them. Let's look closer at the heart of the Empire and it's major urban areas.

http://til.gamingsource.net/maps/obliv_gamemap_b.jpg

This is from the map that will be included in the game. At the epicenter on Central Lake sits Imperial City, the grand capital of the Empire and residence of the Imperial Family. There, from the heights of the Heavens-reaching Emperor's Spire,Septim beholdfs the vastness of His dominions. The City holds some 100+ buildings and houses an equal number of NPCs. The chief architectural style of its stone buildings is Roman mixed Florentine style. The patron deity is Talos, though all Imperial gods have dedicated temples.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/images/trailer/elder_scrolls_oblivion_trailer_screenshot_0007.jpg

Northwest of the Capital we find the walled city of Choroll. This city has the same XV century England style of Caldera and Ebonheart in Morrowind. It's composed of 26 3-story houses,a fort and a Church dedicated to the city's chief deity, Stendar.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/images/screenshots/oblivGS07B.jpg

In the Southwest,we find the city port of Anvil, central base of operations of the Dark Brotherhood and a good place to conduct bussiness (of both the legal and shady kind). The city's architecture is mainly Mediterranean, with red-tiled stone buildings.

http://www.pcgames.de/screenshots/original/PCG1005ElderOblifldVFGoiyc12F7.jpg

East of the Imperial City lies the beautiful city of Cheydinhal. The city is dedicated to the god Arkay and its surrounding natural beauty makes it of the gems of the Empire. This city, however,is home to particular attraction: The Haunted Manor. The good news is that it's for sale (and cheap, too!),the bad news is that (from what I've heard) it's not going to be easy to unravel it's mystery.

http://www.gamersreports.com/grimages/92/1131982327/3/1/gr.image.jpg

Continuing our Nazgul-flight tour towards the Soutwest,we stop over the ruins of the once-mighty city of Kvach. This city is destroyed by initial hordes of Daedra demons that start pouring out of Oblivion at the beggining of the game. That doesn't mean the ruins are uninhabited,though...

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/images/screenshots/obx11B.jpg

In the south jungles we find the fortress-city of Leyawiin. This particular city is built accross the Nebenin river, with a section on each side and a huge 15 tower keep built on an island in the middle of the Nibenay river. The city has a total of 3 keeps, 5 caserns, 5 gate house, 19 towers, 1 church, 1 area, and 21 regular housing.

14 towers as well as the 3 keeps and 4 caserns are part of the central island fortifications.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/art/ob_concept/ob_concept03B.jpg

In the Northermost tip of the Imperial Province we find Bruma. This skaal (Nord city) is populated mostly by Nords and it's constantly battered by blizzards.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/images/trailer/elder_scrolls_oblivion_trailer_screenshot_0011.jpg

Little is known yet about the city of Bravil. Most of the population is Argonian due to it's proximity to The Black Marsh, but apparently this city has seen better days.

http://www.gamersreports.com/grimages/92/1131982159/3/1/gr.image.jpg

Finally we come to the city of Skivrad in the Southwest. This is supposed to be the second largest urban center, but little is known of it yet. It is said to be very similar in style to The City from the Thief series and some major events of the Main Quest will happen there. This is the only known image (http://oblivionsource.telefragged.com/content/gallery/Other-screenshots/36454cf1?full=1).

I can't wait to play Oblivion this month! I'm a bit jealous though, since I preordered at Gamerush I'll probably get it a few days after everyone already has it. They have a habit of being about 3 days late on shipments but they have great trade in deals so I preordered a few things with them a while back, Oblivion being one of them.

edit: yay, I can post again. :bang:

Watch us play Oblivion for 12 straight hours

Quote:

GameSpot's first-ever Live Gameplay Marathon begins Saturday, March 18, featuring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

This weekend, GameSpot subscribers will have a chance to get an extensive firsthand look at Bethesda's next highly anticipated role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion...or rather, a secondhand look. We'll be bringing you a live feed of our first marathon stretch playing the retail Xbox 360 version of the game (prospective players should be wary of potential spoilers).

GameSpot executive editor Greg Kasavin will be driving the game, offering commentary about the experience as it transpires. Subscribers will see a picture-in-picture view of Kasavin as he spends an increasing number of successive hours playing the game, and they will be able to chat with each other over the course of the event. However, Kasavin will not have access to the chat room, to avoid any outside influences on his time spent evaluating the game.

In summary:

What: GameSpot Live Gameplay Marathon, featuring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360)

When: Saturday, March 18, 6:00 p.m. PT - Sunday, March 19, 6:00 a.m. PT (subject to change...but what could possibly go wrong?!)

Why: Because it sure beats Sunday brunch with the in-laws. And because we know you want to see and play Oblivion as much as we do.

Expect written hands-on impressions, gameplay videos, and high-resolution images of the game to appear on GameSpot over the course of the weekend. However, to be among the first to experience Oblivion in raw, unfiltered form, and to get impressions directly from one of our editors as he plays, you'll have to tune in to our live feed.

does anybody subscribe to Gamespot and can post update for us?

McLean78

Wow, that's a cool idea. Is it going to be just the one guy playing it for 12 hours straight? That's impressive. Actually, no, what am I saying? If I had the game I could probably sit down and play it until 8am right now, no problem. But still, it's a cool idea. :)

Oblivion Guide, Vampirism Info

Any time you fight a vampire you have a certain percentage chance of catching a blood disease. If you get it, it basically will slowly drain your fatigue. You can either treat it with a simple potion or neglect it. If you keep the disease for 3 days you become vampiric.

Now it gets a little tricky. You can feed whenever you want. It recommends sleeping victims as they are easy prey. They don't die or contract the disease from the bites. If you feed once a day you keep it in check and sunlight doesn't effect you. Becoming vampiric you get an automatic +5 to just about every stat which can increase over time. You can withstand basic weapon hits better but your reaction to fire attacks is poor.

Now, heres the kicker. If you want to gain spells ablity you must STOP FEEDING. Everyday you go without feeding you gain a power. It starts with simple vision enhancements on the first day and grows to attacks, invisibility and very powerful charm spells on the fourth.

The catch? You get ugly with blood red eyes and fangs and people won't want to talk to or deal with you. Also sun begins to kick the shit out of you. Step out into it and you get hurt fast. The only thing that you can use at that point to proceed is the charm spells you've gained.

Apparently you can cure this at any point but the book doesn't say how. The book also doesn't say if you lose all the stat gains as well if you cure it or if its possible to feed enough to get your normal looks back and retain the vampirism at the same time.

Tuesday can't come soon enough. :bang:

Sign = Mage

Hair Style = High Knot

Hair Color = Blue(hint of gray)

Skin Color = Green(hint of blue)

This game is mind-blowing. I spent an hour just tweaking my characters looks. The gameplay is smooth as silk. Not only does it play smoother than Morrowind, but the load-times are much faster. The animation has been really tweaked since the E3 vid of last year. They really tweaked this game to perfection the last four months. The music is awe-inspiring. I have not even stepped outside yet. Definitely the best graphics I have ever seen!!!

No, it's easy. When you get a tumbler in the up position hit the A button. If you do not time it correctly, you'll break your pick. It's a better system than Thief or Splinter Cell. Those are more fun, but they don't rely on stats.

Yeah, it's probably better to just buy them. I just pick up everything I see and these turned out to be mildly useful, so I use them. :) There's some kind of mushroom that also restores magicka. But neither of them are very effective. I only use them because they're free.

The one I speak of relies on you killing someone, looting their body for gold but the gold never runs out...

One of the best things about Oblivion was that I could compare my adventure with others.. but if people are cheating it kills a lot of the enjoyment of the game imo.

Oh, okay! Probably shouldn't say anything more on it, but it sounds like you got to go at that situation from the opposite angle. Nice!

I tried that cache clearing trick, and I think it made a big difference. Everything was great at first, but it got to a point where the game was freaking out and "Loading area..." almost continuously. But clearing the cache seemed to help. I think I may have to do that periodically.

I've had 4 freezes I think. I stopped playing after the last one. I'm not sure how much progress I lost because I hadn't saved in a while. Hopefully there's a recent autosave.

Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive to cache game data and in some cases the info stored on the hard drive can get fragmented, slowing down the game's performance. Bethesda has already found out a way to fix the issue. Here is the official word:

Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. This is done to optimize all loading the game does. It has been found in rare cases on some Xbox 360s that the cached data can get overly fragmented. This exhibits itself by the game taking a long time to load anything from menus, dialogue, sounds, objects, levels, and more.

To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one.

Once you see the “Bethesda Softworks” logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared.

Note, this does not effect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data.

Wow I never knew that~? Does it work with any game or JUST Oblivion?

Im stuck on the test of patience and the test of courage (only courage because under the water it gets so dark). If anyone has been please give me some hints. The dreamworld is in the city of Bravil. *Slight spoiler I guess, well not really since its a side quest (highlight)*

To get there you must ask a guard at the bravil castle. He will lead you to one someone in the mage guild, who will then lead you upstairs. You must put the thing he gives you on and go asleep. Yu lose everything, but you do get some good armour if you go to one of the tests first, other then that you wont need it. Ahhh Help

The Test of Patience

some sort of scroll that you get is suppose to double as a map. you have to follow a runic character that is on the bottom of the map.

The test of Courage

you could try a spell that will give you light. i use Starlight. doesn't cost that much magic.

metalsux, I have 2 suggestions for the test of courage:

First, if visibility is a problem, you can go into the game settings and increase the brightness, which will make it plenty bright enough to see. Second, grab the potion but don't drink it right away. Swim as far as you can until your breath meter is almost empty and then drink it. There's a second potion you can pick up along the way, but if you go fast enough, you won't even need it. If your character can swim fast enough (and you don't get turned around), you'll barely even need the first potion.

I was camping out in front of a store waiting for it to open when out of nowhere some guy ran up and started wildly attacking me with a dagger. It freaked me out at first because I couldn't figure out what I did, but I recognized his name. Turns out he's somebody I had really pissed off earlier and was out for revenge. I can only imagine how long and far he was tracking me.

Anyways, the funny thing was that when the guards saw him attack me, they all ran up to try and kill him (at first I wasn't sure if they were all after me or what). In the heat of battle one of the guards hit another guard, so after the perp was dead they all started attacking him. Even the head of the local fighter's guild jumped in. I didn't want to get arrested, so I just looted my attacker's body and the ran and hid behind a building and watched the fight from there. After they killed the offending guard, they were all sad that their friend had been killed.

Does anybody have fewer than 10 active quests? I seem to be floating around 12-15. Every time I finish one a new one pops up in its place! That's what makes this game so hard to turn off. And that's not even counting the hundreds of Oblivion gates, caves, mines, forts, and ruins that I'm always finding but never exploring. This game has more multi-tasking than an RTS!

Well, heres a stupid little story....The other day I spent 20 minutes trying to out run/maneuver a pack of wolves, humans, kahjit, and a big stupid horse. How did I get into that mess?

I ran upon a camp of homeless refugees, who had fled from a goblin assualt or something else. Honestly, the girl who was telling me about their troubles was boring and not vary fun to look at in the face, so I really wasn't listening to her. Out of the corner of my eye, however, i saw something vary promising; a ranger chick carrying this very nice sword. This got me to thinking "Hey, why should she have so much while I have so little?".

The answer to this question ,of course, was because she "earned" it (with hard work and presistance). Really, I didn't care how she got it, I wanted it and I would kill as many people, and possibly a few pigs, to get it. So, I drew my rusty long sword and pounced on her (Pops never showed me how to talk to the ladies).

As I landed the first blow, I began to realize two things. One, I don't posses any armor what-so ever (totally diffrent story). Two, I am not the last action hero. With these two realizations fresh in my skull I took the only logical course avalible to me; I ran for the hills like a fat kid at a baby back rib convention.

Theres alot more too it than that. This is just an example of how I may go about describing the events that take place while I'm playing. This should not be taken as a sample of my actual writing, I just through this together really fast. Seriously though... I'm 67% sure that that Black horse was out to analy rape me.
