Info on the Demo

Just like Saints Row Demo. You are limited to one island. 8 Agents can be selected and used in the demo. Once you get 2 Power ups you have 30 minutes to finish the what you want to do. Once 30 minutes are up demo is over.

30 minutes?

How is the demo? I have yet to play it since it is downloading right now. Is it similar to Saint's Row or San Anderas in gameplay?

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

No, Superpowers. Nothing like SR or GTA. has a new spin to the sandbox genre. Need to play it understand it.

Took out Three of the bosses couldn't take out the kingpin. Since he's on the other island. Love the system they used. If you take out the recuiter gang members will stop respawning. If you take out the car Dealer. They can't come after you with newer cars, etc..

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

Here is the Rundown of the Demo:

- Your Limited to one island.

- Can only take on 3 Bosses

- Can't take the Kingpin down

- After the second powerup you have 30 Minutes to do what you want in the Demo

- Some of the side missions are in the game, Roof Top race &amp; Street races.

- Can't scale the Agency building with the time you have. Need a Max of 4 agility to tempt it.

- Cars handle nice.

- Lock on Function feature can make the game easy.

- You can also free aim(like in Saints Row).

- Crime system is very different to games like Saints Row or GTA. Example if you take out the Recruiter first gang members will stop respawning.

- Wanted System, Like games of GTA or Saints Row you are in a gang and police will come after you. This time you are the police. Only time they will come after you is if you kill citizens of the city and gangs will come after you as well.

The lock-on system is tight! You hold the left-trigger to lock a target, flick the right analog to target head, arms, torso, tires etc and the right trigger to fire! There is a cool little Deus-Ex-like target diagram that appears when you do this.

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

The AI is kinda funny. After the first battle I got into, one of the peacekeeprs said something like "target is down", then she walked over, fired a few bullets into the dead body just to be sure, and then cheered for herself.

Is 4-star the highest rating your attributes can have? I almost got that high in agility and firearms in about an hour of playing the demo. It would be a little disappointing if it's that easy to max out your skills in the full game.

Some have mistakenly been lead to believe that only a select number of copies of Crackdown will contain Halo3 beta invites. This is not true.

A Microsoft representative confirmed to IGN that every copy of Crackdown includes an invite to the Halo 3 beta. If you want in on the beta (and didn't earn an invite by other means), purchase a copy of Crackdown on February 20 and you'll be set. You can even purchase a copy on February 21 or even March 15 and still be in the clear. Oh, and you'll get a copy of Crackdown to boot. Sweet!</div>

Even though the Join option for friends is disabled, I ended up getting a co-op match going with a really-real-world friend and it was a blast. We just kept trying by setting up a game with certain characteristics and the other player would keep leaving and refreshing the list until the host showed up. Co-op makes the game! I'm gonna try to beat Marvel Alliance and Lost Planet by the time Crackdown hits!

Ya its not hard to get into a co-op game at all with a friend. Just have one host a game and the other join a custom match and well usually there aren't more than two hosts at one time.

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

some old info but it's what they have planned for DLC.

<div class="bbcode_quote">
<div class="bbcode_quote_head">Quote:</div>
<div class="bbcode_quote_body">"At the Leipzig Game Convention, Crackdown producer Peter Connelly told 1UP about the downloadable content plans for the Microsoft-published title. According to Connelly, Crackdown will see a demo before the game ships. After the game is released, in the first 30 days (as per Microsoft's preferences -- they talked about it at Gamefest), the first batch of downloadable content will be released. That batch is ten new playable agents. The agents will be playable in both single and online co-op modes and will be part of a single download (not divided up into multiple packs). Currently, there is no female model among them. Connelly explained that creating a female character would take a ton of work because of the redesigning of the animations and bone structure for a female character. Connolly isn't ruling out a female character as downloadable content at some point, though.

The next piece of downloadable content the Crackdown team plans on releasing is what they are tentatively calling a "replay editor." The replay editor will allow players to capture moments from their Crackdown experience. It might be a huge chained explosion they set up, or a recording of them juggling a semi truck with rockets from the game's rocket launcher.

Finally, Connelly expressed the team's desire to add another island to Crackdown's city. See, the game takes place across three islands (think full-fledged cities for these islands) and adding a fourth is something they'd love to do. The problems adding a fully-featured island to the game are numerous, though. Existing code in the game would have to allow for the rerouting and redirecting of traffic, both pedestrian and vehicular onto the new island -- but Connolly said the team coded Crackdown with this in mind. While the replay editor and 10 Agent downloads are very real, for now, adding a fourth island to Crackdown isn't nearly as much of a reality."</div>

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

Wow! I hadn't expected this from Crackdown.

All the gameplay videos I had seen, didn't impress me at all, and neither did the demo at first. But this game is fun in a GTA kind of way, where you can play it for an hour straight, without doing anything other than running around and having fun. Especially after I found out that you could use the right stick to aim at the gastank of the cars, and have them explode :) Also I think it's the first game ever, where I find that grenades really are useful.

I really do hope Rockstar are taking notes about some of the features in both this game and Saint's Row, 'cause they both have some brilliant ideas.

4.- Ingalls MG-60: The M-16. No scope. Decently accurrate.

5.- Shotgun: Pump action shotgun, 4 bullets in the clip.

6.- Automatic Shotgun: 8 Bullets, basically a shotgun pistol.

7.- Something-50: Basically an MP5 with a scope. Low damage, good accuracy.

8.- XMP-80: Basically an MP-5 without the scope. Decent firerate and accuracy.

9.- MG-80. A 249 SAW. 80 bullets, one clip is enough to lay waste to at least a couple guys, and will kill ANYONE Except bosses in under a clip.

10.- Bastion Sniper Rifle. Bolt action, 10 bullets. Painful.

11.- Bullseye. Semi-auto Sniper Rifle. 5 bullets per clip.

12.- Grenadier: Grenade Launcher. Shoots grenades, makes things go boom.

13.- Hothead: Straight-up rocket launcher, one rocket per clip, slow. Makes things blow up real nicely, though.

14.- Firefly: Guided missile. 5 rockets per clip. Thigs boom good!

Grenades:

1.- Limpet Charge: basically remote controlled mines. Fun fun fun fun.

2.- Grenade: Grenade, normal one. Goes boom, is fun to use.

3.- Shrapnel: More powerful, has shrapnel so it's good against humans.

4.- Cluster: More powerful than anything else, AND has several secondary explosions. This is one heck of a pretty weapon to use.</div>

don't try to tackle the other gangs until your ready. If your low level agent you will last a about 30 seconds against the Generals.

Only problem is those 500 Orbs. I have the complete guide on where each one is just going to take time.

My Gamestop I got mine from only had enough to cover Pre-Orders. They had no extra. Where I live theirs 5 gamestops within 4 within 5 minutes of each other and another one 15 minutes away. I bet could pick it up fine at a Best buy. atleast I hope you could.

Only thing sad is some people are buying this game for Halo 3 Beta. Unless your an idiot no way you would spend 60 dollars on a beta. That could only last for 2 months.

dude this game is sooo cool.. the agility orbs dont bug me to much, cause they add the puzzle layer to this game. youll see one and you'll think to yourself "how the hell am i supposed to get that" than you find a back way or a pole you didnt notice and before you know your up there (waaay up there) and its pretty satisfying..

id imagine though when i have 499/500 its going to bug tryin to find the last one.. and i think for the secret ones i only have 23 or something out of 300, i think those ones are gonna be alot harder..

anyone who had the slighest interest in this should definently go pick this up, its too much fun.. (and i didnt even get the rocket launcher yet :naughty:)

I have over 200 orbs I need another 60 orbs so I can start collecting them from the second island. I can get the orbs at any height just wish theirs was a better way to detect them. like they do with the roof races/street races.

dodge advertising in crackdown doesnt really bug me, but with this game being based in the future, i think the least they could have done was put concept cars (which would have been alot cooler by the way) on their billboards instead of advertising the 2007 versions of the their vehicles..

advertising in games is something that is going to happen.. but i wish companies could get a little bit more creative..

Just beat the game. Final Kingpin Wang can be hard. His entire garden is full of his personal army. Than he with 6 others are on the tower throw their special bomb thing. Getting up their is not easy. Watching the ending you know theirs going to be a CrackDown 2.

After you restart you game you can turn crime back on. Can't turn the boss battles back on. Going work on getting more Achs tomorrow.

the main missions (story) dont last so long, but there just so much to do and have fun with.. and it doesnt really end with the boss fights cause the achievements will keep you going a little bit longer and its just alot of fun to play..

IMHO, crackdown is one of those games (like fable) where you are given complete freedom over how you want to play the game. if you want to rush through and beat it in around 12 hours then go right ahead, however you could also rack up 30+ hours easily depending on how you play.

the freedom is given to us for a reason, good or bad i like it.

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

I don't think I would have the patience to go through a walkthrough to find 800 orbs. I'd rather just aimlessly wander the rooftops looking for the ones I missed, even though it'll take a lot longer.

Climbing the agency tower is exhilerating. Reminds me a lot of Shadow of the Colossus. That game starts you off in a temple, in the middle of the map, tallest place in the world. You can't get to the very top, but you can climb up to find a hidden area that's only shown in the ending cutscene. No achievement for it though. :( wink.gif

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

Agency tower is easy only took me 5 mins to get up their. Much easier when your Level 4 to scale it. Going to be much harder if your only level 3. Nexr the end it hard to grab onto the pole and jump from one tower to the next.

Only going after the agility Orbs first the Agent orbs are easy to find. I will most likely say F it after awhile. I only know one person who tried to go after them all and ended up with 499 and could not find the final orb.

What do you mean about the tower? You found orbs at the top of the tower, or you could see some on other buildings with the view from the tower? I think in that entire tower I found two secret orbs (one inside, one at the very top) and no agility orbs. But I've gotten lots from the nearby buildings.

<div class="bbcode_quote">
<div class="bbcode_quote_head">Quote:</div>
<div class="bbcode_quote_body">Crackdown began its life as an open sandbox game from former Grand Theft Auto gurus, spent its mid-life as a marketing experiment for Halo 3, and is kicking back as one of the best Xbox 360 games to date. But this critically-acclaimed sci-fi masterpiece isn’t quite ready to retire to the DVD rack.

We are on the brink of a trifecta of goodies for Crackdown from Realtime worlds and Microsoft, including a title update and both free and pay downloadable content nuggets. We know what you’re thinking: “Hey TeamXbox.com…how can an already great game become even greater?” That’s a simple task if you’re Realtime Worlds.

For Crackdown, Realtime diligently follow the post-launch forum chatter and attempted to address all of the concerns with the base game, while at the same time adding new content to keep it all fresh. There are also some items that perhaps didn’t make the final cut for Crackdown’s original launch (time constraints will do that to a project of this magnitude) but have been prepared and thrown into the upcoming DLC code. However it actually came about, Crackdown’s Title Update, Free-for-All” and “getting’ Busy” packs are a win-win for those allied to the Agency.

So without further ado, here is what to expect when Crackdown’s downloads come on air…

Title Update Items:

Reset Gangs: In place of the current option to reset the city’s crime (unlocked by defeating all 21 bosses), the gangs can now be completely reset in the main campaign.

Easier Orb Hunting: Imagine how great it would be if when searching for the last remaining hidden agility orbs the audio range on each of them got wider as fewer remained; well imagine no longer. Audio ”ping” range is now gradually increased when searching for the last 50 percent of hidden orbs, and 20 percent of agility orbs.

Ground Strike: Available to a four star strength agent only, it is now possible to slam downwards while airborne by holding the attack button. The resulting strike is deadly to anything it hits, with an additional shockwave stunning nearby enemies.

Improved firing over low walls: Agents can now fire downwards at a greater angle while taking partial cover behind a low wall.

Targeting enhancements: Improved target lock prioritization of enemies behind vehicles as well as live enemies over corpses.

Those damn fire hydrants!: The fire hydrants were near indestructible but were also hard to spot. Now, though still best avoided, they can be smashed over for a far less unreasonable penalty.

Stunt Ring Visibility: Stunt Rings are now much easier to locate.

No “Lefty Flip” on vehicle control: Removal of the lefty flip on vehicle control so that left-handed players can aim with the left stick, but still steer with the right stick.

Persisting Charges &amp; Mines: Limpet Charges (and the new Proximity Mines) will persist at all times within the game world and not just when within a certain range of the player.

Distant Explosions: No matter where the explosion(s), players will be able to see them provided they have a line of sight… it’s always a clear day in Pacific City!

Ramp Truck Issues: Some vehicles didn’t seem to get on well with the ramp truck, but we never intended this to be a SUV-only toy. Now none of them can get enough of it!

Camera Enhancements: Better camera for performing vehicle stunts or driving on near vertical surfaces (particularly with Top Level Agency SUV or new Peacekeeper Buggy). Also vertigo-inducing tweaks for those long leaps of faith.

Player to player precision shots: We’ve dropped the PvP lock-on but now another agent can be hit with a head or leg shot using normal targeting.

“Free-For-All Pack” Free Downloadable Content:

Keys to the City: The ultimate Cheat Mode! Enter this mirror of the main Campaign for a clean-slate game that can be fully exploited and customized for a single play session.

(Note: Achievements and leaderboards will be disabled in this mode)

* Build a pile of 100 explosive drums at the top of the Agency Tower – then let it rip!

* Spawn a ramp truck anywhere, and it’ll stay there

* Create an agency vehicle or one of the new Peacekeeper vehicles any time, any place

* Players can set character skills however they want them, or just activate the accelerated skill leveling feature (“Crackdown” demo anyone?)

* Check out “Super Agent Agility” to jump ridiculous distances, swim faster than a torpedo and sprint faster than a speeding bullet (almost)

* Try the “Super Agent Strength” to toss a truck with deadly accuracy further than ever dreamt. Boot enemies into the stratosphere!

* Get the most out of the exciting selection of new weaponry by activating infinite ammo. Max out the selection at each supply point too!

* Do all of this without skipping a beat of the action – the pop-up cheat menu is always available during play without pausing the game

Vehicle Impounding: The Agency Garage has been given an overhaul; this was partly to accommodate the brand new Peacekeeper Vehicles, but also to allow Agents to impound their favorites so that they’re always available…in their preferred color.

* Impounding is simple: commandeer the vehicle and return it to the garage

* Vehicles that aren’t yet impounded are displayed as feint images, so players can see at a glance what’s missing from their collection

* The “Confiscator” achievement awaits those who simply had to catch ‘em all

Co-op Trophy sequences: A trophy emblazoned with my gamertag that is displayed for me and my opponent every time I win at the existing game types!? Yes please! Psychotic Mission Trials

* A record is now kept of Time Trials completed at “Psychotic” difficulty

* Scoring the maximum 21/21 isn’t just the ultimate challenge that every true Agent of Justice should have the stones to take on, but it’s also the only way to unlock the highly coveted “Psych Out” Achievement

“Getting’ Busy Bonus Pack” Premium Downloadable Content:

New Vehicles:

Agency Patrol Buggy:

* Double wishbone suspension absorbs the bumps in spectacular fashion

* Rides over anything – even when scaling near vertical surfaces

* Insane air control

* Roof mounted, independently aiming mini-gun activated with either “B” or “Left Bumper”

Agency Pursuit Vehicle:

* Ridiculously powerful mono-cockpit race car

* Acceleration that blows away everything else in the city

* Incredible grip and top speed

* Those road race leaderboard times are set to tumble!

Agency Armored Vehicle:

* Like the Agency Truck, the AAV can smash through barricades with ease

* Tank-like in design, occupants are completely protected from assault

* Surprisingly fast and agile for its size

* Rockets fired from independently aiming main turret with either “B” or “Left Bumper”

Street Racing: Pacific City is finally free from crime. Agency activity is once again concealed behind closed doors. The remaining peacekeepers, having very little to do, quickly grew restless. To satisfy their lingering lust for danger, high risk Street Racing tournaments have been established across the city.

* Compete in six different on and off road races across the city

* 6 radically different vehicle options per circuit

* Race against up to 11 other “do or die” opponents, including another player over XBL

* Compare fastest race times as well as race wins for that session with your co-op “buddy”

* Players can post their fastest time per circuit to the online leaderboards

* Take advantage of the world of “Crackdown” to win by any means necessary: create road blocks, hit gas tanks, or simply slam opponents into submission

New Equipment

MSK Lobber

* Mini rockets are thrown out from the rotating muzzle section before their boosters ignite and swarm towards their target.

* The homing mini-rockets are incredibly agile making this the ultimate fire-and-forget weapon

EX1 “Proximity Charge”

* Similar to the standard issue “Limpet Charge,” these can be attached to any surface.

* A visible local field is generated when the charge is set. Enemy penetration of this field will result in detonation

* In a bid to reduce the extensive civilian casualties lying in the wake of any crime fighting Agent, intelligent threat-sensing technology prevents the charge from detonating when a firearm is not detected

* Unfortunately the technology isn’t quite intelligent enough to prevent detonation due to field penetration by another Agent

HRX “Harpoon”

* A powerful gas powered mechanism capable of launching a deadly, razor-sharp spear over large distances with incredible accuracy

* Can be used to ensure enemies “stick around” when players need them to, or to attach perps to their vehicle if they need to take them downtown…or around town

MZ360 “Mini-Gun”

* The ultimate fast-firing projectile weapon

* “Spin-up” to full fire rate takes some time, but the devastation is incredible

* Comes with a bountiful supply of high-caliber ammunition

VS1 “Cloaking Device”

* The perfect device for the Agent that likes his action served psychotic, or for anyone that just needs to get under the radar from time to time

* Renders the player barely visible and off radar

* The VS1 is fuelled by Agency suit armor; when depleted an Agent can find themselves distressingly vulnerable

New Game Types

Max-Agility Rooftop Races

* Compete solo or with two players in races across the city rooftops

* Nine new races in total, each with its own solo &amp; co-op leaderboards

* Four are with Los Muertos, three with The Volk, and The Shai-Gen play host to the remaining two

* And no, gamers won’t need to complete these too for the existing “Over Our Heads” Achievement!

Stockpile

* Each district (including Agency Island) hosts a Stockpile game – clearly identified with its unique beacon

* Stockpile can be played solo or in co-op

* The aim is to collect all the game specific orbs (also marked on the tracker) in the fastest time

* Best times are uploaded to the online leaderboards

* Two players can work co-operatively to find all the orbs in the fastest possible time, or simply compete for the highest score when the time runs out

* In the case of competitive play, it doesn’t always pay to do the grunt work of collection; when an Agent is killed he drops a third of his spoils

Checkpoint Chase

* A highly addictive two-player competitive game that makes the very most of the world of “Crackdown”

* The game can only be initiated in one place – the Agency Garage

* A random target destination is identified somewhere on the city, but is only marked on the tracker (not the map)

* The first person to reach the destination gains a point and activates the next checkpoint

* The winner is the first to 10 points

* Other than that, Checkpoint Chase has no rules!

Rocket Tag

 The ultimate competitive combat event!  Each of the 21 gang boss lairs now also plays host to a game of Rocket Tag  When the game is activated the players are randomly assigned as “hunter” and “hunted”  The hunter has a straight-shootin’ “Hotshot” rocket launcher…and more ammo than he could ever need!  The hunted has…a pistol  To win, the hunted player must avoid being caught in the blast of the rocket launcher for 60 seconds. Simple!

NOTE: Gamers can essentially “try before you buy” by partnering cooperatively with another player that has purchased the “Getting’ Busy Bonus Pack”. This will give both players full access to pack’s goodies, for that session. Trust us when we say that once you sample the fun of this pack, you’ll want to “Get Busy” every time!

Achievements:

The new content brings with it seven new achievements (taking the overall total to a nice round 50). Cracky Goodness

Our quick preview didn’t reveal all of what is in this massive update and DLC pack, but what we did see was mind blowing to say the least. The “Keys to the City” is an amazing free upgrade that should make Crackdown an even better platform for creating wild YouTube-style video shorts. More super super agents, instant spawning of items and infinite ammo is a cheater’s dream. Keys mode can be entered and exited at the gamer’s leisure as well, thus keeping the original game intact if so desired.

The new weapons are winners as well. Each one was demonstrated for us, with each having more strengths than weaknesses. The lobber is fun because of the sheer rate of fire and the homing capabilities of each charge. Proximity charges can be artfully used as a safety halo since enemy activity sets them ablaze. The Mini-Gun takes a while to get to speed, but quickly becomes the highest rate of fire weapon in the Crackdown universe. There’s also a defensive-style weapon in the cloaking device which pays obvious dividends in all mission aspects.

But it was the Harpoon Gun that really caught our eye. Harkening back to Painkiller: Hell Wars, Crackdown’s Harpoon Gun can affix any enemy to any surface in the game. This includes buildings, and more importantly vehicles. In fact, stapling foes to vehicles is an Achievement since it’s so darn fun, especially when said vehicles start to drive away with their new “cargo”.

You could call us impressed with the Premium pack’s new vehicles too. The AAV is a sheer brute, and its rocket clusters pack quite a punch. The Agency Powered supercar is the exotic of the Crackdown universe, with blinding speed and grip to boot. But we really liked the dune buggy the best, as it was designed for stunts and has a knack for climbing vertically. The buggy is also amazingly rendered, with the exposed dampers and engine animated beautifully.

We would have loved to have gotten our hands on the new content, but we had to satisfy for an unbelievable demo by one of Crackdown’s testers. The non-pay DLC is a no-brainer of course and impressive in itself. You’d be silly not to nab the pay material though, as it is just as exquisite as the freebie DLC, and holds with it some exclusive Achievement points. Heck, you can even try the pay stuff out for free if a co-op partner has it. But you may as well just buck up, as this content appears commensurate with the quality that made Crackdown a hit in the first place.</div>

It should be any hour now. The achievement list has just been updated on xbox.com. It shows 1250 Points now. Hopefully with the new way to find the orbs. I can finally get the last ones I'm missing.

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

someone I know was the first to get the full 1250. few more got the 1250 ach points early today. It will take about 13 Hours to get all the Ach's for CrackDown. I'm at 900 Points right now. Working on impounding. Need a guide to where a few of these cars are parked. Volk &amp; Los muertos(sp?) are the hardest to find. Volk and the common were easy.

If anyone got a list please post it. If you need help finding the citizen or volk cars ask.

1250 Ach Points. Those races got boring after awhile. Atleast you can get out of the car and blow everyone up.

Re: Offical CrackDown Thread

The orb sound increase helps a lot. I just found 3 of the last 10 hidden orbs yesterday by accident because I heard them while walking around looking for cars to impound.

I've put about 5 - 6 hours into crackdown 2.. and while i am having fun with it.. i think overall the first game is better..

They made a lot of changes the i think personally were not for the better..

but if you played the first game, you know exactly what you are gonna get.. there is a lot of fun to be had, but be wary of a purchase..

CrackDown is back for XB1. It's tempting to grab the new XB1 SKU for CrackDown.

------

Side note it looks like Lionhead completely destroyed Fable series.
