Wii remote straps already being replaced?

Only a day after Nintendo had commented that it was "looking into" the durability of the Wii-Remote straps after many reports of remotes flying out of people's hands, newly packaged controllers show evidence of having new, thicker straps.

Reports on the web indicate that separately sold Wii-Remotes include the new straps, while those packaged in with the Wii still contain the thinner straps.

With the immense hype and media attention that has been following the Wii prior to and after launch , it's not all too surprising that many non-traditional gamers, not familiar with the unique controls of the Wii, might become a bit overzealous in their participation, even with the consistent warnings Nintendo displays in both their manuals and during gameplay.

But even with Nintendo's reputation for quick responses and attentive customer service, this is an impressive example of nipping a potentially lingering problem in the bud.

My friend has broken all of his straps, but he said that Nintendo is suppose to be sending him new ones.
